A specialist seminar for journalists on the Montenegrin Qualifications Framework was held in Podgorica today.  During this one-day training, the journalists specialising in education had an opportunity to learn about the goals, development and future challenges in the process of adopting the MQF.

A representative of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Mr Enrique Aguado- Asenjo, while opening the seminar, emphasized that one of the goals of the EU is to make it easier for people to move between countries to study and work.  “Europe seeks to become the most competent market based on knowledge and skills and Montenegro has to be a part of this” said Mr Aguado-Asenjo.

The implementation of the Law on the National Qualifications Framework should enable a clear understanding and classification of domestic qualifications in a national framework.  The compatibility of the NQF with the European Qualification Framework will encourage the mobility of work force, open up possibilities for the valuation of knowledge and competences that were not acquired in the formal education system, as well as encourage the development of life-long learning.

Journalists from all the relevant Montenegrin media were extensively informed about the MQF by the representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, and the representatives of Higher Education. They learnt about the European and British experiences from Janet Swainger, Team Leader of the project which has for the last two years provided expert support in this area.

The Law on the National Qualifications Framework was adopted in December 2010. The project “National Qualifications Framework and Quality Assurance in education” is supported by the EU IPA Funds.
