Foundation Open Society Institute - Representative Office Montenegro (FOSI ROM), is a non-governmental and non-profit organization established in March 2002 after the reorganization of the Open Society Institute - Montenegro, with an aim to support development of the civil society and reform programs in Montenegro. FOSI ROM continues with similar civil and reform oriented programs conducted by the Yugoslav Open Society Fund in the period between 1993-1999, and the Open Society Institute Montenegro from 1999 to March 2002. FOSI ROM is a part of Open Society Institute from Zurich, Switzerland and it is part of Open Society Institute network. Foundation has International Advisory Board (IAB) and Director. IAB accepts annual strategy and approves projects within the framework of each of its programs.FOSI ROM Education Reform Program, together with the Legal Program and the Public Administration and Local Government Program, is one of the three mega projects through which the Foundation supports the overall reform processes in Montenegro. In October 1999, the Foundation launched the project of education reform in Montenegro in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Montenegro. Since the very beginning, the process of education reform has been dominantly and, for a rather long period of time fully, OSI financed and guided. The Foundation in Montenegro has been and still is providing expert, financial and logistical support to the key education reform segments, those being: · Definition of the concept of education reform in Montenegro, · Educational legislation reform, · Curriculum reform, · Institution building / Reorganization of the Ministry of Education and Science, · Teacher training and school management, · Improvement and reorganization of the textbook production system, · Media campaign/Public information campaign, · Donor mobilization.
