Veljko Tomic – Acting Director-General of the Directorate for General Secondary, Secondary Vocational and Adult Education

Veljko Tomic was born on January 1, 1979, in Pljevlja. After completing elementary and secondary education in Podgorica, he continued his higher education and obtained his university degree at the Faculty of Law in 2004 in Podgorica.

His work professional career began in 2005, when he started to work as a trainee in a lawyer’s office in Podgorica.

From 2007 to 2013 he performed the duty of legal adviser in the Bureau for Refugees in the Government of Montenegro. In May 2013 he took over the duty of the Head of the Department for Displaced, Internally displaced persons and Readmission in the Directorate for Refugees.

From March 2014 he worked in the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare as the head of the Department for legal, human resource and office affairs. In July of the same year he was appointed the President of the Managing board of the Public Institution the Home for the elderly “Bijelo Polje”, the member of the Managing board of the Institute for the elderly “Komanski most” and was also elected as arbiter/mediator in the peaceful resolution of work conflicts procedure.

He is a member of the Council for the Development of NGO-s.

Beside formal education, he attended numerous seminars organized by public and international organizations, as well as by NGO sector.

He speaks English and Russian.
